We’ll discuss the differences and similarities between ASC 840 and ASC 842 and the implementation timeline. We’ll also cover surprises like embedded leases and provide a summary of practical expedients, common mistakes to avoid and tips to implement the standard. We’ll also show a brief demo of LeaseCrunch.

Katie is responsible for all aspects of audit, review and compilation engagements. She specializes in serving clients in the financial and professional services industry as well as manufacturers and distributors. She has extensive experience in financial reporting as well as a deep understanding of tax regulations for taxable and nontaxable entities.

Katie is known for providing excellent client service. She takes the time to understand each clients’ business, will ask the important questions and listen to the answers in order to arrive at the best conclusion for the organization. This allows Katie to provide value added suggestions relating to operations, internal controls and best practices. Katie also makes herself available whenever clients have questions throughout the year, not just during the course of their assurance work or at tax time.

Previous roles include CEO of HarQen, president of LaserNet (acquired by Apex), vice president at Cielo, and vice president at Strong Financial Corp. She started her career as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) after graduating with a BBA-Accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Jess has a knack for operations, process improvement, and helping her staff exceed expectations. Jess has an MBA in Leadership and Management and a BA in Accounting, both from Ottawa University’s Brookfield, WI campus. Jess’ varied professional experience includes working for companies like US Bank, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Burke Properties, and Founders 3 Real Estate Services. She has spent the last few years working directly with clients to meet and exceed their goals. At LeaseCrunch, she serves as the go to resource for CPA firms, coordinating what they need to successfully implement the new lease standard and adopt lease accounting software. 
 
Jess is currently a member and has been President of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) Milwaukee Chapter and a contributor for MKE Moms Blog and is currently a member of TEMPO Milwaukee’s Emerging Women Leaders group.
